Never (Ever) Put Your Time, Expertise, And Coaching ON SALE.

You have no idea how happy I am right now that you are reading this right now. I made this mistake way too many times in the early days of building my coaching business. I wish someone would have given it to me straight from day one. So with that said, I’m going to put every ounce of my soul into making sure this lands for you right here and right now.

Never, EVER discount your coaching. Ever.

Whenever I talk about this topic, I always have a few coaches who reach out and say this worked for them. The ‘discount’ or ‘one-time sale’ strategy brought in a few clients and spiked sales for the month. And sure, maybe you made a few extra bucks, but at what cost?

Let me quickly explain. I’ve always looked at every decision in my life and business through the ‘long game’ lens. I’ve seen dozens of coaches fail simply due to the fact they chose to play the ‘short game’ and make ‘quick win’ decisions. These decisions may have ‘felt good’ in the moment, but ultimately cost them their business in the long term.

When you discount your coaching, you’re creating a lose:lose for both you and clients for a number of reasons. Firstly, the biggest being that you’re training your audience to see you as a ‘discounted’ kind-of-coach. Not only is this a hard perception to break free from, but the quality of clients you’ll end up attracting are usually on the ‘half-committed’ side of the spectrum.

Simply put: your clients will be choosing you based on price’ rather than truly seeing the value you bring.

How To Stop Caring About What Other People Think Of You

It breaks my heart that so many coaches may never truly make the impact they’ve been put on this planet to make. This is not because they don’t have what it takes, but because they let other people’s opinions control their actions.

Simply put: if you care about what people think of you, your future will always be in the hands of others.

Did you know that I spent over 4 weeks filming, uploading, deleting, stressing, re-filming, re-uploading, re-deleting, re-stressing, and beating myself up before I posted my very first video? I made a fancy ‘I just want it to be perfect’ excuse to hide my own insecurities. However, at the root of it all was a fear of being judged. This pattern continued for over 12 months. This created little to no results through my marketing efforts.

It was only when I fully dropped the fear of judgment and put myself first that I saw success. I believed in my mission, shared my authentic, real, honest, and raw message. This is when people actually began listening. Once they began listening, they began sharing and buying from me.

So in today’s episode, I’ll be sharing the 3 beliefs that I installed into my life. This helped me get past the fear of criticism. This allowed me to share my truth in my own unique way. This is what helped me take my coaching business to a whole new level.

You’re not an accident. You are here for a reason. You’ve been put on this planet to share your unique gift with the world.
What people think of you is more their problem than it is yours.
You’ll never get what you want if you don’t stand out. Standing out means you will be judged no matter what you say or how you say it.
When we try hard to be liked, we push it away (just like anything else in life). The opposite is also true. When we don’t care if PEOPLE like us or not, we attract those who resonate, and we become ‘liked.’ The moral of the story is: BE YOU!

4 Simple Questions to help you Get Clarity, See Your Vision, Map Your Direction, and Tap Into Your Purpose

How do you get clarity? It’s fair to say that it really doesn’t matter how much passion or energy you have; if we don’t know where we’re headed or how to get there, we ain’t ever getting there! So I thought instead of making today’s podcast episode an information-centered episode, I’d make it more of an actionable ‘coaching’ session. So we can help solve the biggest problems most coaches (and humans) face. Which is: no vision, no clear direction, and a lack of a true ‘why’.

Luckily it’s not ‘technically’ that hard to get clarity. The clarity that we seek and all the answers are already within us. The hard part usually lies in actually taking the time to sit down, ask ourselves some questions, and do the work to come up with the answers.

Most coaches I talk to do this once a year, maybe. I recommend doing this at least once a week. Trust me, if you don’t know exactly where you’re going, you’ll never get there. We wouldn’t just glance at a map once and drive for seven days straight without ever peeking at the map. We need to make sure we’re headed in the right direction and readjusting our route if need be.

So if you ever find yourself lacking motivation, feeling ‘tired’, waking up with anxiety, or just not seeing the results you want, then listen to today’s episode. In fact, without adding any kind of scarcity and urgency into your offer… you don’t give your clients a reason to buy now. Sure, they may like your program and even be potentially interested in buying, but if they don’t have a reason to act now, most of them will want to ‘think about it.’

When I sit down with a client and ask them how they think they could add scarcity and urgency to their offer, they usually respond with the usual ‘I’ll offer a discount’ strategy. And what I typically say next completely catches them off guard…

Do not put your coaching programs and your time ‘on sale.’ It not only trains your people to never ever pay full price for your service, but it also tells the universe that you’re not worthy of getting paid what you’re truly worth. Should I Even Be Selling Coaching During A Pandemic?

Over the last few weeks, I’ve had a lot of coaches express to me that they feel ‘bad’ for selling during a pandemic while the world seems to be falling apart amidst all the uncertainty we’re facing.

I first want to say, I totally get it. Yes, we’re living through interesting times right now. Yes, the future is uncertain (isn’t it always though?). And yes, people have lost their jobs, and many may be struggling to find their footing right now.

But on the flip side, our perception of things becomes our reality. We can see this as the end of civilization as we know it, or we can choose to see it as a transformation in the way we do things here on planet earth. I also refuse to take away from anyone that we, as humans, are incredibly resilient and that anyone can bounce back from anything if they choose to. By you ‘feeling bad’ and choosing to struggle instead of thriving right now, you’re doing the world, your family, and yourself a massive disservice.

Which brings me to my main point: Many people are thriving right now. Either the tides of change have been on their side, or they’ve chosen to simply unplug from the media and focus on keeping a healthy and abundant perspective of things… But the truth is, there are more than enough people out there right now who are using their spare time and investing in themselves right now.

Please don’t dim your light just because others may be choosing to dim theirs. The world needs you to share your gifts more than ever right now. Let this episode be a remember that your success won’t take away from anyone else’s success. If anything, you’ll help inspire others to step up to the plate and create success for themselves!

Keep it Simple: The Secret to Building Your Online Coaching Business

Alright, alright, alright… I admit it. There is no ‘secret’ to building an online coaching business. However, there are costly mistakes that are totally avoidable. These make building your business and getting more clients much easier. And as someone who’s spent years not only building my own coaching business and going on to sell well over a million dollars of coaching. While working with over 300 coaches to build their dream business… I’ve made more mistakes than I can count on 12 hands.

In the near future, maybe I’ll do a little series about some of the biggest mistakes I made on YouTube. But, for now I want to share what may be the biggest mistake I made. I overcomplicated absolutely everything.

I’d overcomplicate the business plan, the marketing plan, creating my coaching programs and getting on social media. From starting a podcast, running a sales call, invoicing, communication, and emails. You name it, I somehow found a way to overcomplicate many things. I’d find myself working my butt off but getting little to no results. Let’s not mention feeling frustrated at my lack of progress.

Then I did something that, in hindsight, seemed obvious: I simplified everything and got hyper-focused to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of everything I did.

Here are some examples:

Removed all the complicated coaching programs, courses, and ‘stuff’; I wanted to sell and simplified all my offers into just 3 tiers.
Stopped trying to create hundreds of lead magnets, and instead laser-focused on creating a few simple yet value-packed free offers that actually got people results.
Committed to mastering just a few marketing strategies instead of trying anything and everything that was recommended to me.
Simplified other aspects of my life right down to my wardrobe. Although that may sound extreme, I found that the fewer choices I had to make during my day, the more mental power I had to make the big decisions in my life and business.

My point is simply this: When I committed to simplifying things down to their most basic components, I not only started seeing amazing results in my life and business (hello $80,000 month), but it also made me a better coach. I learned to communicate clearly and found that a coaching session that took an hour before could be done in 15 minutes with the same, if not more, impact on the client.

The Art and Science of Building An Online Coaching Business

From my experience working with over 300 coaches by now, and seeing them create an online coaching business, one observation has stood out more than anything else: Most coaches love the art and craft of coaching but detest the science of sales and marketing.

And I totally get it, working with clients is fun. It is fulfilling. It’s exciting. It’s rewarding. But it’s also completely dependent on our ability to actually bring in those clients in the first place. Although It’s important, It’s simply not enough to just be an amazing coach. We must learn to communicate not only why we’re so amazing, but how our amazingness will help your interested prospect get a life-changing result.

And here’s the good news: I call coaching an art… and I call business a simple science. Business is a numbers game that anyone can learn and create simple systems around that end up doing the heavy work. And to double that good news, at the end of the day, there are only 3 key numbers we must learn to grow.

1) Leads: We must get new potential clients into your business on a daily basis

2) Conversations: We need to find a way to turn those leads into conversations

3) Sales: Our offer must communicate our value and turn those conversations into sales

Once you have those key ‘systems’ dialed in, you’ll only need to ‘maintain’ the science part of your business and spend most of your time practicing the art of coaching while getting paid well for it.
