What’s going on you Hero you! Today I wanted to chat about something that A LOT of people are suffering from (including me at one point in my life). We all know it takes hard work to get to where you want, no matter if that’s trying to start (or grow) your business, get through a tough school year, advancing in your career, finishing a project or whatever else it is you’re working on… It’s going to take WORK. And sometimes all that work ahead of us can seem so overwhelming and intimating that we keep putting off starting it in the first place. Today let’s have a peek into the ‘AH! There’s just so much to do!’ problem shall we!
Ah! There’s just so much to do… where do I start!
So what do you do!?
STEP 1: Whenever I’m about to undertake a new project or need to tackle a ton of work (take the Be Your Own Hero Project for example) I’ll start with a notebook and go crazy on it. Every idea I have I’ll jot it down with NO FILTER. I don’t judge the ideas, I just let them flow. Often times within hours I’ll have a notebook full of ideas and I’ll generally spend a few days diving into my thoughts and adding to the notes. This creative process generally lasts a few days for me, although for you it may be different. The point is to get all your thoughts on paper without judging ANY OF IT – well save that for step 2.
Quick Note: Dream a little won’t you! Quit setting the bar so low! Raise the bar and you’ll notice some amazing things happen to your energy and motivation in no time!
STEP 2: Alright, now we have all these amazing and crazy ideas and most likely we’re jacked up and ready to get after it… but we often times overwhelm ourselves with ‘I have so much to do!’ and ‘I don’t know where to start!’. Here’s where planning comes into play! First thing we’ll need to do is sort through your notebook and grab the ideas that speak louder than all the others. Which ones excite you? Which ones light that fire? Let’s forget about what everyone else may think of you: which ideas align with who you are and what YOU want to do?
STEP 3: Action time. Here’s where we commit to our ideas and go all in! You’ll be tempted to change ideas or go in different directions but you need to stick to the plan until it’s done. I do want to warm you though: Once you enter the rabbit hole and start being your own Hero you’ll see things differently… and you’ll never be able to return back to your old self! Life is meant to be an adventure – are you living yours?
